Favorite Newspaper Sites:
1) Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/)- The navigation of the webpage allows a user to easily access different categories such as entertainment, weather, sports, etc. The webpage's design is similar to an actual newspaper, containing a main news lead as well as sub-categories to click on.
2) USA TODAY (http://www.usatoday.com/)- The site is organized in a most important to least important pattern. Navigation is so easy to use on this website that it is almost unnecessary to click on the sub-categories that are located at the top of the webpage.
Least favorite media site:
CNN News (http://www.cnn.com/)- The webpage's design has a collage of different news topics, making it hard for new users to navigate. Most of the page's navigation tabs are too much and unnecessary, such as the "What You're Talking About" tab when there is already an entertainment tab. It almost seems as if CNN is trying to be a news site, as well as a social media site.
Favorite General Site:
Billboard (http://www.billboard.com/)- I am a huge music head, so I need to know what's hot and what's not. The site helps me navigate to the top 200 hits, as well as the top videos. The design is similar to Huffington's where the webpage reflects an online newspaper, giving me the main news leads and sub news leads.
Least Favorite General Site:
Pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/)- I find this website to be too plain and dull for music fans such as myself. The webpage looks similar to a blog rather than an official website. The main page talks about amateur artists that many people would overlook, and the main page rarely talks about the artists that many people are familiar with. I understand that many artists need recognition, but too many new faces on the main page could confuse a new user.
